Both President George H.W. Bush and President George W. Bush have broken their silence on Donald Trump in their forthcoming book The Last Republicans which will be released later this month. This is an unprecedented move in the history of American politics.
As reported in The Hill, Bush 41 is quoted as saying he is worried that “I will be the last Republican President” which in itself speaks volumes about what they consider Trump’s real party affiliation is. It also shows his concern about the direction the Republican party has taken under Donald Trump and its future.
His father, President George H.W. Bush, had even harsher words for the current POTUS saying “I don’t like him. I don’t know much about him, but I know he’s a blowhard. And I’m not too excited about him being a leader.” Bush 43 also admitted that he voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, rather than vote for Trump. In fact, neither former president voted for Trump but George W. left the top of his ballot empty.
Bush 41 went on to say “Wow, this guy doesn’t know what it means to be president” echoing the thoughts of millions of Americans and people around the world.
The Last Republicans, written by historian and former Director of the LBJ Presidential Library Mark Updegrove, will go on sale November 14th. Reviews on the upcoming book were published on Friday night, so thus far there has been no reaction from either the White House or Donald Trump, who is now travelling on the other side of the world. But expect fireworks, at least from DJT, after he hears about these comments.
Right now, I will be pre-ordering my copy from Amazon.
