Now is the time to talk about it. If not now then when? Texas Tech campus emergency communication centers sent out an alert that the entire campus was in lockdown. There had been a shooting situation on campus causing for the lockdown.
According to the University spokesman, campus police were making a welfare check on a student where they saw evidence of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Officers brought the student/suspect into the campus police station for questioning. During the questioning the student/suspect pulled out a gun and shot an officer point blank in the head. The officer did not live.
At that time, the suspect fled on foot. For a short period of time he was at large in the campus. He was finally captured near the north side of the campus near the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. Open carry on campus is completely acceptable via Gov Abbott as late as of October 1st 2017.

Guns cannot become the must have accessory to every outfit. Perhaps if guns were not so widely accepted on college campuses this may not have happened. Of course, there were aggravating circumstances in this situation.
Now is the time to talk about changing the narrative of guns in our nation. They have become way to much of a commonplace. Guns are a serious killing machine that should be way more difficult to get than birth control (yeah I went there). Stricter gun regulations would not stop every gun related incident, but it would elliminate most.
