Harvey is Slamming Houston

By Tiffany Rodgers

Hurricane Harvey is kicking the crap out of Houston. It needs to dissipate at once…immediately! Houston has had enough, unfortunately it is only going to get worse over the next few days. Here is some of the damage thus far.

If that doesn’t make you pray to whatever God you have – I dont know what will. Mother Earth can stop pounding these poor people. Thanks Mother Earth, but you’re drunk – go home (I’m not making light of the situation, but if I can bring a smile to one person dealing with all of this water – that is all I am hoping for).

You are not alone. Many are having the same reaction. All that can be said is ‘we’re sorry’. We wish we could do more.

The amount of water is just pure insanity.

CNN’s meteorologist Chad Meyers warned residents, “The storm isn’t moving, but the rain bands are moving like a pinwheel,” he said. “You are going to get a pinwheel (Saturday night) that will wake up — or you’ll wake up with 12-18 inches of new rainfall on the ground.” Houston has upwards of 2 million people living inside the city.

The situation in Houston is dire. There are pictures and pictures of people lives being ruined by flooding, and it is not yet over. That is what makes this situation incredibly dangerous. This is Trump’s first natural disaster as president. Let’s hope for the sake of everyone involved, he surprises us by actually doing the right things! Luckily, we have the red cross and other organizations that can assist. Houston – we love you. Houston – we are praying for you. Houston – hang in there.

Sarcasm, satire, and snark just seem to spew from my being. I may not be everyone's cup of tea, but who can refuse coffee? ?

  1. Danke Danke. I’ve been going up and down the facebook feed here at home while figuring things out and checking the doppler to see how much worse it’ll get. I live on higher ground out county (not nearly as much concrete and lots of grass), but its very soft ground right now. I’m not worried about me, though, but there are quite a few friends I went to school with who have apartments flooding and the water’s nearing their floors. They’ll probably be putting through a call to rescuers in the next few hours (the elderly, ill, disabled are priority right now, understandably). I’m keeping my phone on the charger in case anybody calls, and haven’t heard from some people yet.

    1. I am so sorry. I hope that you hear from your friends soon. This is a very tradegic situation any way that you look at it.
