Trump Tweets Lie About Pershing

by Lauren Wynn

The President of the United States just tweeted a lie:

Just one hour after condemning the terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain, Trump once again trotted out the story he told on the campaign trail:

“And he caught 50 terrorists who did tremendous damage and killed many people. And he took the 50 terrorists, and he took 50 men and he dipped 50 bullets in pigs’ blood — you heard that, right? He took 50 bullets, and he dipped them in pigs’ blood. And he had his men load his rifles, and he lined up the 50 people, and they shot 49 of those people. And the 50th person, he said: You go back to your people, and you tell them what happened. And for 25 years, there wasn’t a problem. Okay? Twenty-five years, there wasn’t a problem.” ~ Donald Trump, Charleston, SC. February 2016

At the time, both Snopes and Politifact called this story a myth and completely untrue. Historians have also denied that there is any truth to this story – yet, once again, the Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America has forwarded a slanderous accusation about a U.S. General.

Voices from across the political spectrum blasted Trump.

In one tweet Trump spread fake history, libeled an American hero, and signaled a willingness – even eagerness – to commit war crimes. That’s conduct unbecoming the lowliest officer in the military. Coming from the commander-in-chief, it’s a complete disgrace. [email protected] National Review

It’s astounding that a man with the wisdom and counsel of historians, military leaders and scholars at his fingertips cannot keep himself from spreading falsehoods to his millions of followers. Equally as astounding is that they believe him. They believe him over historians and experts.

He knows this and that is why he persists in spreading his ridiculous stories, his accusations against the media and those who oppose him. He persists because, in their eyes, he can do no wrong and that brings with it great power. Trump’s propaganda is taking hold. Pay attention America!

  1. Lying comes so easy to Donald Trump. Concerning Pershing, it’s too bad he didn’t take two days to get his facts right like his belated excuses for not responding to Charlottesville. What ever point he ever tries to make is always bent and unusable when he gets done adding his warped way of thinking to it.
He has a very difficult time hiding who he really is. His prejudices simmer just under his skin and come out when he speaks and he never even notices it until he gets the bad reviews. Then he goes right into defense mode.
I miss President Obama and the peace and sanity he brought to the White House. It wasn’t 100% perfect but it was so much better than what we have now.
America went from “Obama-Nation” to an “Abomination”.
    Trump needs to go.
