The U.S. believes that North Korea may be able to attach a nuclear bomb to their missiles. You know, the missiles that have been tested and can reach the United States. What does our ever impressive President do or say? For once he didn’t just tweet out his irrational thoughts.
Nope. He did something far worse. He opened his mouth.
This is not some business deal where Trump can blackmail North Korea into making the ultimate deal. However, he is threatening them as if it were. Kim Jong-Un is already an unhinged individual, no one knows how he will react to threats (and personally, I don’t want to find out either).
We do need to go after North Korea. Not in a threat, but in a diplomatic way. The U.N. Security Council just passed by a 15-0 vote increased sanctions against North Korea. Both Russia and China voted “yes.” But instead of waiting for the sanctions to work, instead of waiting for the rest of the world to call on North Korea to calm down their rhetoric, Trump is on a path to escalate the crisis.
These two “children” need to step to the side and let the adults make the decisions. What an unbelievably asinine remark Trump has made. Let us hope that any actions that come from either loco leaders will not be hastily made.
The words of William Shakespeare in his great play “Macbeth” come to mind when reading Trump’s statement:
“It is a tale. Told by an idiot. Full of sound and fury. Signifying nothing.”
