Most people are familiar with the story of the Roman Emperor Nero playing his fiddle while Rome burned. Okay, technically he was playing his lyre, for he considered himself to be a gifted musician. But the truth of the parable remains unchanged – the leader of a nation shows complete disregard when his capitol city is in flames around him.
It does not take a giant leap of imagination to apply the same analogy to the POTUS, Donald Trump. While his administration is fighting the flames engulfing it from the revelations of collusion/conspiracy with Russia, Trump is spending his weekend, once again at one of his golf courses.
Remember these famous words:
Whether it’s irony, hypocrisy, or downright lying (take your pick) Donald Trump has made a mockery of his mockery of President Obama. While constantly chastising Barack Obama for occasionally playing golf, since he has become president Trump has spent 52 of his 175 days in office (as of 7/14/17) and 38 of those days at one of his golf properties (per NBC News)
You can update that a little because he spent part of yesterday and today at his Bedminster (NJ) Golf Course where the U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championship is being held. And of course he tweeted about it:

If you haven’t been living under a rock the last seven months, you will also know that Bedminster is one of Trump’s golf properties. Just throwing in a little free promotion for his properties.
So while the Senate is struggling to pass any kind of legislation that might resemble a repeal of Obamacare; North Korea continues its sabre rattling; his son and son-in-law face serious questions about their dubious meeting with Russian operatives during his campaign; Venezuela is in flames; and even Fox News has criticized him – Trump is spending the weekend at his golf course. Again.
There appear to be two schools of thought on Trump’s never-ending golf weekends.
One might be called the “Ana Navarro school” who thinks the country is safer when Trump is on the golf course. At least he isn’t tweeting, and it’s probably harder to launch nuclear weapons for the 8th fairway than from the White House.
The other school of thought is the “he’s worked so hard for our country, he deserves it #MAGA crowd” which doesn’t need explanation. Or rather, it defies explanation.
In the meantime, while Trump golfs, the mainstream media continues to report on the unravelling story of the Trump/Russia connections and Robert Mueller quietly and competently is building his team that could bring down the Trump Administration.
