The noose just keeps tightening and the gap between Trump, the Trump family, and the Trump campaign; and the Russian government’s deep interference in our election, from hacking emails and releasing, altering key emails, attempting to break into voter registration roles in multiple states, micro-targeting key groups with propaganda (for which they would need to be guided by Americans expert in district politics, all lead to the inescapable conclusion that the Trumps knowingly worked with a hostile, adversary government to overturn the proper outcome of our Presidential election.
And now we have this:
Donald Trump Jr. was told before his meeting with a Russian lawyer that the damaging information promised about Hillary Clinton was part of a Russian government effort to help his father’s presidential campaign, according to a New York Times report.
Rob Goldstone, the publicist who set up the June 2016 meeting between Trump Jr. and the Russian lawyer, told the eldest Trump son in an email that the potential information was coming from the Russian government in an attempt to aid his father, three people with knowledge of the message told The New York Times.
Donald Jr. did what “anyone would have done?” Seriously? Solicited information from an enemy state in order to slander a candidate for the U.S. Presidency? Where is the outrage from the Republican Party? How are they maintaining so much complacency in the face of these continuing outrages? What level of immorality is acceptable to them?
If I were Donald Trump and had done nothing wrong, I would be pushing for a thorough investigation to clear my name. Instead, Trump has tried to block this investigation every step of the way, first by maintaining that another country was responsible, then by inexplicably firing the FBI chief leading the investigation and now by accepting Putin’s explanations at face value. This new information is more proof that he is hiding something serious from the American public. It is our duty now to fully support special prosecutor Mueller with his investigation.
With his father in the White House, Trump Jr. is one of three people running the family’s real estate business. But he advised Trump during the campaign and appeared on cable television as a surrogate.
The vast majority of the American people are tired of having their intelligence insulted by Trump surrogates. If Don Jr. knew the Russian had information and did not immediately call the FBI, he colluded. He, like his father has said for months there is nothing to this story. Well, apparently there is. Whether or not Trump Jr. used the info or planned to use it is not the most important thing. The fact that the Russian government was (and probably is) actively influencing our elections is very disturbing. They worked hard to get the President they wanted and they succeeded. I don’t think that it is the only reason that Clinton lost, but the idea that the Russians were a part of it is frightening for our future.
We’ll never get the truth from anyone named Trump, yet it’s clear this family is either spectacularly clueless about what is appropriate in American politics (as opposed to Trump-world business) or spectacularly compromised by our Russian friends. The Russians hacked our elections. Trump & Co. happily played along.
Forget the Russian baby adoptions business, it was never about that. It was about how to rig the election by poisoning the news, and Trump is obviously thrilled to imagine that he’s best “pals” with the ultimate international gangster. Dream on. Putin clearly sees Trump as a chump he can play. And based on Trump’s craven and ineffectual performance during his head-to-head huddle with the Russian leader, it’s clear that our pretending-to-be-a-president is Putin’s poodle.
Now watch and see the Republicans, using false equivalencies, distractions, half-truths and outright lies and their propagandists at Fox and other conservative media, start trying to minimize, rationalize and normalize the treasonous collusion of the Trump campaign with the Russians. It’s coming, I guarantee it.
Maybe seeing that will finally convince the rest of the media that the Republicans, ALL of them, are partisan extremists, even to the point of accepting and approving of treason as long as that treason helps the conservative Republican “movement.”
This has moved from intriguing to terrifying. We have an idiot criminal in the oval office, and his family are mobsters. Good grief! Republicans: America is waiting for you to stand up and act. No more denying what has been obvious to us all. Donald Trump is not fit to be president. He does not share “American” values and he has no respect for the Constitution. History is watching.
They are traitors.
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States and having knowledge of the commission of any treason against them, conceals and does not, as soon as may be, disclose and make known the same to the President or to some judge of the United States, or to the governor or to some judge or justice of a particular State, is guilty of misprision of treason and shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than seven years, or both.
