On the heels of horrible coverage that got a demagogue elected to the White House, the American press proves they still have not learned any lessons. A legal case where a presidential candidate defrauded thousands of people should have been in the news constantly up to election day…especially considering the trail date was to begin less than three weeks later. Instead, it became an afterthought to the media, and they are continuing to use that same playbook.
I will admit that a President-Elect becoming unhinged because his running mate was told by the cast of Hamilton…
“We, sir — we — are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” he said. “We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf all of us.”
…is something that needs to be covered. After all, it proves that Donald Trump does not have the temperament to lead our country and apparently both does not understand the 1st amendment, nor has any concern for all of the people who live here given the message that was stated. But to give this more coverage than the recent Trump University fraud case settlement is malpractice on the media’s behalf. Particularly since it should be obvious to anyone that the attack tweets from a supposed future president are all meant to be a distraction since he has kept them up for over 24 hours, leading to #BoycottHamilton to trend on Twitter and all the corresponding articles relating to it.
“I settled the Trump University lawsuit for a small fraction of the potential award because as President I have to focus on our country.”

This comment regarding the settlement even shows that Trump knew he took advantage of the litigants and should have paid out more to them, something else our media fails to mention. Breaking news flash to reporters: Yes it is possible to properly cover anything related to Trump University and the Hamilton statement/reaction.
Not only should the Trump University fraud trial have gotten blanket coverage during the main election season, but it could have been a vehicle to the 4000+ other lawsuits involving him and his businesses; 75 of which are pending right now. If even half of the coverage that was given to Hillary Clinton’s email protocols were given to those, he would have been disqualified as a candidate long before election day. But instead, most news outlets went with what was easier to cover while hoping for higher ratings. And as recently evidenced by not properly covering the settlement to the thousands who were defrauded, it looks like the media’s self-interest will, unfortunately, continue to dictate how they do their jobs.
